5 Years Later... Seeking Justice for Abby & Libby

Five years ago, two young and vibrant teenagers lives were taken far too soon. Abby Williams and Libby German had everything ahead of them, and an evil, unknown monster took that away. While authorities have provided some information, most details have remained only known to those investigating the case.

What we have been told is that the 13 and 14 year old friends were enjoying a day off from school together, exploring a local trail. Libby's older sister, Kelsey dropped of the girls at the trailhead on her way to work at 1:35pm. The Delphi Historic Trail contains the Monon High Bridge, which is an old railroad bridge girder that was abandoned in 1987. It's a popular trail for that many locals frequent.

Libby took a picture and posted it on Snapchat of Abby at 2:07pm, as well as another photo of the bridge itself. Soon after, the girls disappeared and could not be located when it came time for Libby's father to pick them up at 3:15pm. It quickly became an all-out search for the girls, as continuous calls to Libby's cell phone remained unanswered.

Law enforcement, family, and friends converged onto the trail, looking for Abby and Libby. At about 12:00pm the next day, February 14th, searchers discovered the bodies of the teens. The girls were found just a half mile from the Monon High Bridge.

That same day, Libby's cell phone was also recovered. Authorities found that she had taken a video with audio of a strange man walking toward her and Abby on the bridge. This information was not told to the media or publicly initially.

On February 15, 2017, Indiana State Police released a grainy, still image of a man, that appeared to be a Caucasian male, walking with his head down, hands in his pockets walking on the bridge.  They informed that this individual was a "person of interest" in the case, and that they needed help finding him. Soon after, they would state that this man was now considered the prime suspect.

Days later, on February 22, 2017, police would release an audio recording containing the voice of the suspect. A muffled audio clip containing three words were played for the media, "down the hill." It was during this police press conference that police revealed that the image and audio came from Libby's cell phone. Libby German had had the foresight to realized something was very wrong, and secretly recorded the encounter.

Later, on July 17th, a composite sketch of the possible suspect was distributed by authorities. Investigators stated that this drawing was a result of eyewitnesses that were also on the trails February 13th. It seemed to match the video imagery that Libby was able to capture on her phone.

Then, after over two years with no new updates on the case, the Indiana State Police shocked everyone by stating they were now pursuing a "new direction." Superintendent Doug Carter lead the April 22nd news conference on behalf of the multi-agency task force investigation. New materials including a short video recording in which a man, wearing what appears to be blue jeans and a heavy jacket is seen walking along the Monon High Bridge for just over a second. An extended version of the audio recording was also released, with the same man saying the word, "guys" before the "down the hill" phrase.

The most shocking information released though was an entirely new updated sketch of the suspect, now referred to as "Bridge Guy." This new sketch was far different than the previously released older man with a goatee and cap. This drawing depicted a younger, clean-shaved man, and was referred to as a secondary sketch. Police advised that the key suspect is between the ages of 18 and 40, and that his "youthful appearance" could make him seemingly appear younger than he truly is.

Superintendent Carter stated that they have reason to believe that the suspect could be hiding in plain sight. That he is most likely familiar with the Delphi area, and may even be in the room during the news conference. Carter expressed that they will find him, and that it's simply a matter of time.

This was basically the extent of the information provided to the general public about the murders. Police would not release the manner of death of the girls, nor how they ultimately died. They would only elude to that they did find some DNA, and signatures were found at the scene.

This lack of public information has frustrated many since the murders of Libby and Abby. It has almost felt as through the case went cold, but law enforcement continued to promise that was not at all true. Investigators have been working on the case every day, according to the Indiana State Police.

The silence on providing more details broke this past weekend. Authorities have confirmed three new pieces of information.

1. The video that Libby captured on her cell phone is 43 seconds long.

2. Audio with the suspect telling them, "Guys...down     the hill" is heard toward the end of the video.

3. The timestamp on the video is 2:13pm.

Furthermore, the catfishing suspect that was arrested back in December 2020, after police discovered his fake Snapchat profile, "anthony_shots" that was being used to solicit young girls may have ties to Libby. Kegan Kline insists that he is not Bridge Guy, nor was he in Delphi on the day of the murders. Police still believe that Kegan's account may have been the last to communicate with Libby before her death.

After five years, these sweet, young girls deserve justice. The families deserve answers as to who did this horrific crime and why. We can only hope and pray that with the newly released information this helps bring law enforcement closer to finding the murderer.

The Delphi Murders Case

If you haven't heard about this case, where two young middle-school best friends were brutally murdered in 2017 in Delphi, Indiana, let me tell you a bit about it.

Presently, I've been deep-diving into the case for a podcast, and let me tell you, there is a LOT of information to go through. The information that law enforcement has provided however, is quite limited. Here is what we do know.

On February 13, 2017, two teenage girls, Abigail "Abby" Williams, and Liberty "Libby" Germain, were dropped by at the local trail to the Monon High Bridge at around 1pm. The girls were going to enjoy some time in the outdoors, as well as hang out on the abandoned rail bridge.

When Libby's father returned to pick up the girls a couple of hours later, neither were anywhere to be found. Cell phone calls and messages went unanswered. A search was quickly put together to find the young teenage girls.

The next day, at approximately 12:15pm on February 14th, the bodies of the two girls were located about a half of a mile away from the bridge off of the Delphi Historic Trail.

Not much was, nor continues to be released by law enforcement about how the girls were found. What is known is that Libby took video on her cell phone of an unknown man walking on the Monon Bridge toward her and Abby. Stills of the suspect were created, however the video is not the best quality.

Libby was also able to obtain some audio of the man, who has since become known as "Bridge Guy." The three words of audio were released to the media on February 15, 2017. The three words, "down the hill," have haunted investigators, and those following the case.

Bridge Guy is described as a white male, wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket/hoodie, and a hoodie. Two different potential sketches of the suspect have been released. Bridge Guy may be one or the other, or even a combination of the two images.

We are coming upon almost 5 years later next month, and it seems authorities are no closer to locating Bridge Guy, or whomever murdered Abby and Libby.

This is a rabbit hole that I've entered researching like I previously said, and I am not even through everything. I'm hoping to get a friend to co-host a podcast or live video about it soon on the YouTube Channel. This is definitely a case I want to discuss and look forward to learning the truth about. More coming soon here on the blog and on YouTube.

Here is the official website for tips on the murder of Abby & Libby.

The Murder of Helen Clevenger

New video up on my YouTube channel about the murder of college student, Helen Clevenger back in 1936. She was on vacation with her uncle in Asheville, North Carolina when she was brutally murdered in her hotel room.

Note: I tried a video podcast approach to this one. Let me know what you think. I'm still experimenting on the way I do them.

True Crime Podcast Coming!

While I LOVE YouTube, I've found that getting videos recorded is looking to be more difficult for me presently. I mean, you've got to get camera-ready to do video! :)

So, I'm working to get an audio podcast started. This will allow me to record episodes more often. I'm a big fan of the podcast format, and I look forward to the challenge and fun it will bring!

Missing Child: Harmony Montgomery

On December 31, 2021, authorities learned of the disappearance of Harmony Montgomery. The now 7-year-old, was last seen in October 2019. It has since sparked a major investigation and search for the little girl from Manchester, New Hampshire.

According to Lauren Smith of the Manchester Mayor's Chief of Staff, they received an email the last day of 2021 regarding concerns with the new Hampshire Division for Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) in connection to Harmony Montgomery. The office immediately connected with Manchester Police Department. Police Chief Allen Aldenberg immediately initiated an investigation, after discovering this little girl was indeed missing.

There are about 35 investigators currently at work on the case as well as DCYF along with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Chief Aldenberg stated that, "all efforts are focused on that Harmony is alive…until somebody points to me that proves that she is not. We have to operate under the assumption that she is alive." There is quite the concern that this child was not reported missing until more than 2-years later. "For us to have a two-year delay, that is extremely concerning," Police Chief Allen Aldenberg stated on Friday, December 31st when announcing an investigation into the little girl's disappearance.

Manchester Police have spoken with many family members, including Harmony's mother, Crystal Renee Sorey. She went into the police department on Monday for a polygraph as well as DNA test. No word at this time of the results of either.

It's unknown why Sorey hadn't reported her missing sooner. She stated on social media that she was under the assumption Harmony was living with her father, Adam Montgomery. Sorey claims that he had legal custody of the little girl.

“HARMONY MOMMYS COMING FOR YOU I PROMISE & I WILL NEVER LET YOU GO!!!! HANG ON BABY!!!!” Crystal Sorey posted on Facebook and Twitter along with photos of Harmony. These appear to be the last known photographs of the then 5-year-old.

“Help us find this little girl. Someone knows something. Do what is right and call in. I
cannot emphasize this enough. Someone out there knows something," Police Chief Aldenberg pleaded at the press conference on December 31st.

Harmony has an eyesight impediment, she is blind in her right eye and wears glasses.  She is last described as being 4 feet tall, and weighing 50lbs at the time of her disappearance. Harmony has blonde hair and blue eyes.

*** There is currently a $33,000 reward for information for information leading to finding Harmony. A 24-hour phone tip-line has been set up, anyone can call #603-203-6060.  ***

Seeking Justice for Mount Dora Couple

On November 30, 2020, a robber confronted and shot Kheim "Ken" Ba Trinh and Minh "Tina" Nguyen as they were closing their store, T & N Market in Mount Dora, FL. Just over a year later, the case is still being worked daily by the Mount Dora Police Department.

The suspect was wearing all black with a hoodie up over his head. He approached Ken back into the store at gunpoint, where he robbed them. Tina begged the gunman not to hurt them, telling him "I promise you, I won't do anything." Sadly, moments later, he shoots both Tina and Ken as seen in the security footage.

Tina died on the scene, and Ken passed a few days later in the hospital. The couple left behind two children, one who was 18-years-old, and another who was 12-years-old at the time.

The community came out in force after the the horrible crime. A candlelight vigil was held outside the market, where many came out with flowers, balloons and stuffed animals. Locals described the pair as friendly and always willing to help.

Police are asking everyone to please look at the video surveillance images and pay attention to the mannerisms of the suspect, specifically how he’s holding the gun, how he runs, how he reacts, and his voice. There is a $10,000 reward for tips that lead to an arrest. Call 800-423-TIPS with any information you may have.

Missing Child: Michael Vaughan

Five-year-old Michael Vaughan has now been missing from his home in Fruitland, Idaho for more than four months. Fruitland Police Chief J.D. Huff believes in the probability that the youngster was abducted because the agency has made no headway in ground searches. The police department, FBI, and other investigating agencies have searched thousands of acres and have come up empty over the last few months. They have utilized K-9s, helicopters, drones, boats, divers and foot searches and are following up on every lead.

On the evening of July 27th, Michael was playing Nintendo in the family's living room, when his father, Tyler Vaughan went to check on his sister, Arya. He went to her bedroom, and ordered a pizza, which took him about 15-20 minutes. When he returned to the living room, his son, Michael was gone.

Tyler Vaughan called his wife, Brandi Neal at work frantic that he could not find their son. She immediately left work and sped home, where she was greeted with a driveway full of police vehicles and neighbors all outside their homes. Brandi Neal searched up and down the neighborhood streets, asking everyone if they had seen her son, while Tyler stayed at home talking to police.

During the initial search on the night of his disappearance, K-9 dogs were able to track Michael's scent from the home to the end of their  street, away from the farm field that is located to the right of the house, but suddenly stopped there. Neighbors witnessed Micheal knocking on doors moments before he disappeared. Neal believes that her son must have gone out of the garage side door which leads to the front yard, then wandered off.

"It's not about anybody else, it's about Michael," Neal has said. She rarely leaves her home anymore, and her oldest daughter, Kira didn't even want a birthday this year with him missing. The youngest, Arya has just begun playing with toys again, some of her favorites being Michael's monster trucks.

Michael Vaughan is described as  a young, energetic, blonde-haired, blue-eyed boy who loves camping, cars, monster trucks and playing in the dirt. On the day of his disappearance, the 5-year-old didn't want his mom to go to work. Neal has said that now sticks with her.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Fruitland Police Department at 208-642-6006, extension 0 or contact the department through its tip line at findmichael@fruitland.org. A tip leading to Vaughan’s safe return will be rewarded with $50,100. The reward is available through March 2022.
